On Tuesday, people aware of the matter said that at least one army officers and two jawans were killed after being seriously injured in the sixth major terror attack in Jammu region this year in the Desa forests of Doda district late on Monday night. And people have told that the officer was a Major from the counter-terrorism unit 10 Rashtriya Rifles and a policeman was also among the injured.
There was no immediate official confirmation of the deaths from the army and on late Monday night, a post of the Army’s 16 Corps said that based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was going on in the north of Doda and contact was established with the terrorists at around 2100 hours tonight.

Four army personnel including an officer and a policeman were martyred in an encounter with heavily armed terrorists in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The responsibility of this attack has been claimed by a group of six members of the Pakistan-backed terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, Kashmir Tigers.
This encounter took place when the soldiers of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police started a joint cordon and search operation in Dhari Gote Urarbagi of Desa forest area, about 55 km from Doda city, late on Monday evening.
The operation revealed that after a brief exchange of fire, the terrorists tried to flee. But the soldiers, under the leadership of the same officer, chased them despite the challenging terrain and dense forest. And after that, firing again took place in the forest at around 9 pm.
The officers themselves confirmed that five soldiers were seriously injured in the encounter and four of them, including an officer, later died.
The terrorist group Kashmir Tigers itself had said in a statement that the encounter and firing took place when the security forces were conducting a search operation in search of Mujahideen.
Kashmir Tigers is the same group that had taken responsibility for the attack on the army convoy in Kathua on July 9.
